The Defence Ministry will collaborate with the Health Ministry to address post-traumatic stress disorders affecting soldiers and veterans.
Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, the Minister-designate for Defence, assured that the welfare of soldiers and the modernisation of the Ghana Armed Forces would be top priorities under his leadership.
Speaking before Parliament’s Appointments Committee in Accra on Tuesday, he pledged to support efforts to provide decent accommodation for soldiers, ensuring they can perform their duties effectively.
On cybersecurity, Dr. Boamah emphasized the need for collaboration between the Defence Ministry and other state agencies to detect and prevent cyber threats targeting the country’s internet infrastructure.
“We will adopt innovative approaches to procure new equipment for the Ghana Armed Forces, enabling them to operate efficiently and safeguard the nation’s sovereignty,” he stated.
Addressing concerns about alleged regional disparities in military recruitment, he stressed the importance of upholding fairness and equity to ensure balanced representation across all regions.
