Martin Kpebu, a private legal practitioner, has criticised the Minister of State-designate for Public Sector Reforms, Lydia Lamisi Akanvariba, for lacking the necessary experience to lead the ministry.
He stated, "Straight answer, by her credentials, she is not, and I can't say otherwise. By her credentials, she is not," when Joy FM's Winston Amoah asked if she was suitable for the job on the Super Morning Show on Thursday.
Mr. Kpebu further explained that Ms. Akanvariba has no educational qualifications in public sector reform and lacks the requisite skills in the area, emphasising that she is not the ideal candidate to lead the country’s public sector reforms.
"It is too glaring that, by paper qualifications, she is not the right candidate, and when it comes to practice, she doesn’t carry it either."
He then called on the president to provide clarity on his choice of Lydia Lamisi, saying, "I believe we should ask for an interview, and the president should respectfully and specifically give us insights into what went into that decision."
President John Dramani Mahama nominated Lydia Lamisi Akanvariba as Minister of State for Public Sector Reforms. The announcement was made by the Minister Designate for Government Communication, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, on Wednesday, 5 February.
She is a health practitioner and Member of Parliament (MP) for Tempane in the Upper East Region.
