Former assistant coach of the Black Stars, George Boateng, has shown his desire to become the new head coach of Championship side Blackburn Rovers.
The former Blackburn midfielder has been earmarked as one of the potential candidates to take the vacant role after John Eustace parted ways with earlier this month.
Meanwhile, reported names such as former Wolves manager Gary O’Neil, Braga’s Carlos Carvalhal, and ex-Young Boys Coach Raphael Wicky, have all been inquired by the club.
Boateng worked in the capacity of an assistant youth coach for the club’s U-13 in 2018 which gives him an advantage.
Speaking to Soccer Africa, Boateng admitted his desire to manage the club.
“I have seen that my name has been mentioned for various clubs in the championship and, all I can say is that, I have shown interest in the Blackburn Rovers job and that I’m interested in being the head coach," he said.
The 49-year-old had a forgettable four-month stint in his last job as Coventry's first team coach after he was relieved by the club together with manager Mark Robins.
Boateng previously served as an assistant coach for Ghana’s Black Stars under Otto Addo during the 2022 World Cup and Chris Hughton at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
