Francophonie Festival 2015
Short Films in Competition at the Accra Francophone Film Festival, 20th – 28th March 2015
The annual Accra Francophone Film Festival is a 10-day celebration of Ghanaian, African and International Film Makers from the French-Speaking World. This film festival was created in 2013, as part of the Francophonie Festival which takes place every March across the globe.The 3rd edition of this film festival will take place from 20th - 28th March, 2015 with films being screened at the National Film and Television Institute (NAFTI), the Executive Theatre at TV3, the School of Performing Arts at the University of Ghana, Legon, the Nubuke Foundation, Alliance Française (Accra), and Alliance Française (Kumasi).The Accra Francophone Film Festival is hosted by Institut Français du Ghana.
As part of the festival’s goals of fostering a strong film industry in Ghana, filmmakers in Ghana were invited to submit their films for a short film contest in the categories of fiction, animation and documentary. The following films have been shortlisted for competition, and the winner will be announced on the 28th of March at an event to be held at Alliance Française, Accra.

The Cultural Attachée for Institut Français du Ghana at the French Embassy, Mrs Stéphanie Soléansky says, “I am delighted that for this 3rd edition of the Accra Francophone Film Festival we have had such a wide and diverse selection of films for the judges to choose from. This points to the growth in the Ghanaian film industry, and I am delighted that Institut Francais is in a position to showcase these burgeoning filmmakers.”
The winners of the short film competition will win a variety of prizes including tickets and accommodation to participate in internationally renowned film festivals. All the short films selected for competition will also be screened at the Accra Francophone Film Festival.
