The Minister for Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving the welfare of retired military personnel following a meeting with the Executives of the Retired Commission Officers Association (RCOA).
The engagement formed part of a series of strategic meetings held on Saturday, April 5, aimed at addressing pressing national concerns, including veterans' support.
In a Facebook post, Dr Boamah described the meeting as “another important visit,” highlighting its significance in ensuring that those who served the nation in uniform are not forgotten.
“We also had another important visit from the Executives of the Retired Commission Officers Association (RCOA) to delve into the welfare of our retired commissioned men and women in uniform,” he wrote.
The discussions focused on critical issues facing retired officers, including access to healthcare, pensions, and recognition of their service.
The Minister expressed his appreciation for the frank exchanges and pledged that the Ministry would take actionable steps to address the concerns raised during the meeting.
Dr Boamah reiterated that the welfare of retired personnel remains a top priority for the Defence Ministry.
He noted that ensuring dignity and decent living conditions for veterans is not only a moral obligation but also an essential part of building a strong and motivated armed force.
