The Tema Central branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on residents and political stakeholders to remain calm and united as discussions continue over the appointment of a new Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Tema Metro.
In a statement released on Sunday, April 13, by the Constituency Executive Committee and led by Chairman Benjamin Djakumah, who also serves as the Chairman of all NDC Chairmen across Tema East, Central, and West, the party emphasised the need for calm and respect for due process.
“At this critical time in our democratic journey, we call on all political party members, supporters, and the good people of Tema to remain calm, united, and respectful of due process,” the release said.
The group stressed that the appointment of a Municipal Chief Executive is a constitutional responsibility of the President and urged the public to avoid actions or statements that could create division or unrest in the community.
“We trust in the wisdom and leadership of the President to appoint a competent, visionary, and inclusive leader who will serve the people of Tema with integrity, fairness, and commitment to development.”
The NDC executives pledged their full support for whoever is nominated by President John Mahama, highlighting the importance of peace and progress above individual interests.
“We, the people of Tema Central, will support any nominee of the President in the interest of peace, unity and progress.”
