Celebrating the International Day of the Boy Child is one of the events that is rarely celebrated compared to the girl child empowerment in various countries in Africa and beyond.
In an attempt to help bridge the gap, the Sustainable Management Services under ECOM Ghana has organised a Boy-Child Empowerment Summit in Assin Andoe (Assin South District) in the Central Region.
It brought together over 200 boys from Assin Andoe Cluster of Schools to educate them on Violence, Addiction and other activities under the theme "Strengthening boys to build Communities free of Violence and Addiction."

Speaking to the Gender Specialist of the Sustainable Management Services, Deborah Antwi emphasized on Edu News 360 (Joy Learning) that, "it's extremely sad to neglect our young boys to struggle through the ladder without any mentorship or empowerment projection as compared to the girl child."
She stressed that young boys go through a lot of challenges that are long overdue to be addressed by various stakeholders, the government and NGOs with immediate effect.
In an interview with most students on Edu News 360, they expressed their joy for such an awesome program organized to get such an opportunity to share their problems and be mentored with incredible passion and pleaded for more programs like this to curb most social vices.

The Headmistress of Assin Andoe D/A Basic School, Charity Bediako, thanked the SMS team for such an amazing empowerment summit and pledged to form a boys' club for its sustainability.
She told Edu News 360 about their greatest challenge being absenteeism, truancy, fraud crimes, among others.
He further pleaded with the government and other stakeholders to educate and empower the boy child for a brighter future.
