The Principal Lead of G-Money Financial Services (GMFS), the fintech subsidiary of GCB Bank, Ebo Richardson, has been crowned Fintech Executive of the Year at the maiden edition of the Ghana Executive Awards 2025.
A widely respected figure in Ghana’s digital transformation space, Ebo was honoured for his outstanding leadership, innovation, and long-standing contributions to the finance and telecommunications sectors over the past 15 years.
The awarding board described the recognition as a testament to his exceptional dedication and visionary leadership in driving digital transformation, organisational change, and technological innovation.
“This deserved honour affirms Ebo’s unwavering commitment to impactful results in the fintech industry,” the board noted.
Ebo Richardson has played pivotal roles in major transformation projects, including the transition of Barclays Bank to Absa Ghana, and held top executive roles such as Chief Information Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Architect at Absa Africa, as well as Transformation Lead at Equity Group in Nairobi. He is now spearheading the rebuild and strategic repositioning of G-Money Financial Services.
Speaking to the media after receiving the award, Ebo expressed heartfelt gratitude for the recognition. “First of all, I would like to thank God for His continued favour and guidance. Let me also appreciate my bosses for their support and guidance, and commend my team for their irrepressible spirit and massive commitment,” he said.
“I dedicate this award to the Board of G-Money, my colleagues, and my family for their unflinching support!”
He also acknowledged the customers, partners, and vendors whose roles contributed to the success of the GMFS transformation, and praised his team’s resilience and excellence. “Their tireless efforts and commitment have helped us navigate challenges that would fox most, and they have positioned the business for resounding and impactful success.”
On the awards event itself, Ebo applauded the organisers for their vision:
