An Achimota District Court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of General Constable Samuel Appiah with Service Number 58577 for allegedly defrauding by false pretences.
Appiah is alleged to have hoodwinked some 197 prospective applicants in a security service recruitment scam last year.
According to the warrant available to the Ghana News Agency, issued on 13th May, 2025 and signed by Mr Prince Osei Owusu, the presiding Judge of the court said “You are hereby commanded in the name of the President to apprehend the said Constable of the National Formed Police Unit, Tesano-Accra, to appear before the District Court.”
The facts are that complainant Sylvester Kofi Akudeka on the 5th of December 2024, reported a case of defrauding by false pretence by Constable Appiah with contact numbers 050859824/0240180142.
It said Appiah is alleged to have collected an amount of GHC1.6 million from 197 complainants, made up of young men and women, under the pretext of assisting them to get recruited into various security services.
Investigations have reached a point where the above subject’s presence would be needed at Lapaz Police Station to assist further in a probe, according to a communication signed by Superintendent Mr Isaac Ocansey, District Commander, Tesano District, Accra.
Appiah’s whereabouts could not be ascertained now, with an appeal to the public to volunteer information towards his arrest.
