The UK-Ghana Chamber of Commerce is celebrating the Managing Director of Fidelity Bank, Julian Opuni. In a post on LinkedIn, the Executive Director of the Chamber, Adjoba Kyiamah placed the spotlight on the banker.
Mr. Opuni is a Platinum Member of the UK-Ghana Chamber of Commerce (UKGCC), and an executive member of the Fidelity Bank Board.
He joined the Fidelity Bank as Head of Commercial Banking and led the successful incubation and growth of the unit, later overseeing the wider Commercial & SME segments and eventually the entire Retail Banking Directorate.
With over 26 years of experience in the financial services industry across Ghana and the United Kingdom (UK), Opuni brings deep expertise in business development, credit analysis, and sales management.
He is also passionate about youth entrepreneurship and business mentoring. Before Fidelity, he spent 18 years at Lloyds Bank in the UK, joining through their Expedited Management Training Programme. He held several senior roles across Operations, Retail, Business, and Corporate Banking—ultimately serving as Senior Manager overseeing business centres in West London. Julian’s leadership has been widely recognised.

Mr. Opuni received the Outstanding Leadership Award at the 2020 Ghana Business Awards and was named Best Banking CEO of the Year by both International Business Magazine and Global Banking and Finance Magazine.
He is an Associate of the Financial Services Institute (FSI) (AIFS), holds a B.Sc. in Banking & Financial Services from the The University of Manchester Institute of Science & Technology, and is an accredited specialist in Manufacturing, Legal, and Property Lending.
