The Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, has reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring accessible and quality healthcare for residents of the region.
He said this during a high-level engagement with the Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Dr Victor Bampoe, and his team.

The meeting, held in Ho on Tuesday, June 16, as part of the NHIA’s working tour of the region, focused on strengthening the operations of the Authority and enhancing the delivery of health insurance services to the local population.
Mr Gunu described the discussions as “fruitful” and reiterated that health remains a cornerstone of the region’s development strategy.
“A healthy population is key to building a resilient and productive economy. That is why the role of the NHIA cannot be overstated,” he noted.

Dr Bampoe assured the Minister that, following the recent policy directive by President John Mahama to uncap the National Health Insurance Fund, the NHIA is now processing and paying claims more promptly, offering relief to both service providers and clients.
Mr Gunu further called for sustained capacity building for NHIA staff in the region to effectively support the President’s broader “Resetting Agenda,” aimed at revitalising public institutions and service delivery at all levels.
