Government has terminated the appointment of Prof. Ken Attefuah as Executive Secretary of the National Identification Authority.
The decision takes effect next Monday, July 20,2009.
No reasons have been cited for his axing.
In his place will be Dr. William Ahadzie, who until his appointment was the Acting Director, Centre for Social Policy Studies, University of Ghana.
Prof. Ken Attefuah has served as the Executive Secretary of the National Identification Authority since July last year when he replaced Prof. Ernest Dumor.
The nationwide mass registration exercise which started last year is currently on hold after covering only four regions in the country - the Central, Western, Eastern and the Volta regions.
The next stop was supposed to be the Greater Accra Region but the exercise has stalled with no clear indication when it will resume.
Workers have been agitating over unpaid allowances and are threatening to go back on the streets after an earlier one in March, 2009.
Dr. Ahadzie's immediate responsibility will be to ensure industrial harmony at the NIA and proceed with the registration process.
