The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has called on Ghana’s religious community to actively participate in the upcoming review of the 1992 Constitution, emphasizing the need to restore ethical and moral integrity in national leadership.

Speaking at an interdenominational church service held at the Calvary Charismatic Centre in Kumasi as part of the maiden National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving, Dr. Amoakohene stressed that Ghana’s development must be grounded in strong values.

“Thankfully, this year and the year to come, we want to review our Constitution, and we want to take input from religious leaders and the religious community,” he said.

The Minister urged churches, mosques, and faith-based organisations to make meaningful contributions during the review process to help restore moral clarity in both governance and society.

“We would call on religious groups gathered here, that when we are reviewing the constitution, let us be active and also make prepositions of how best we’ll be able to restore that moral integrity in leadership and also within our citizens,” he said.

The call came during a vibrant interfaith event marked by thousands of worshippers dressed in white and national colours, symbolising peace, purity, and unity.

Chairman of the Planning Committee of the Kumasi Council of Christian Churches, Rev. Douglas Okona Frimpong, also underscored the need for spiritual guidance in policy-making.

“We are supposed to reset. We prayed for the executive, the judiciary and legislature and all our opinion leaders and the entire citizenry that God should help us. Those who are making policies should be guided and be given wisdom so that they’ll be able to make the right policies for the development and prosperity of our nation,” he said.

The event was themed “Reflect, Reset and Renew for National Prosperity.”
