Leading cement manufacturer Ghacem Limited has officially launched its newest and most sustainable product yet, ECO COOL.
This is Ghana’s first eco-friendly cement designed to significantly reduce environmental impact while maintaining high construction standards.
The launch event, held at the Alisa Hotel in Tema, brought together key stakeholders from the government, the cement industry, and civil society.

The Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, served as Special Guest of Honour and commended Ghacem for its bold, innovative steps toward responsible trade and sustainable manufacturing.
“Ghacem’s commitment to sustainable innovation and support for regulatory excellence is commendable. Their contributions — especially in training standard inspectors for the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) — will help strengthen our national quality assurance systems,” the Minister stated.

The event also hosted dignitaries from the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, Ghana Standards Authority and the Forestry Commission. Representing Ghacem’s leadership were Board Member Ishmael Yamson, Commercial Director Kwasi Kyere and Managing Director Dr. Frank Huber.
In his remarks, Dr. Huber emphasised Ghacem’s long-term vision for sustainability and climate responsibility.

“At Ghacem, we want to lead the path in sustainable construction. We’ve set a clear target — to become 100% CO₂ neutral by 2050. ECO COOL is designed for all building applications, but with significantly lower environmental impact,” he said.

In line with its broader environmental commitment, Ghacem presented a cheque of GHS 1 million to the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources in support of the Tree for Life Reforestation Initiative.
The gesture forms part of the company’s active role in promoting afforestation, land restoration, and sustainable environmental stewardship in Ghana.
The product is now available nationwide through all Ghacem distributors.
