The community of Mempeasem in the Eastern Region is in shock following the discovery of the body of a middle-aged woman who had been reported missing for three days.
Residents say the woman’s disappearance had triggered a frantic search across the town, but hopes of finding her alive were dashed when a group of locals found her lifeless body lying face down in a nearby plantain grove.
According to eyewitnesses, there were no immediate signs of struggle or injury on the body. However, the exact cause of death remains unknown pending an autopsy.
The remains have since been conveyed to the morgue for preservation and further examination.
Residents are demanding swift action from the Ghana Police Service to investigate the incident and provide clarity on the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
This latest case adds to a worrying trend in the area. According to locals, it is the fourth time in a week that a missing person has been found dead under mysterious circumstances.
The series of unexplained deaths has sparked widespread fear and concern, with calls for enhanced security and urgent investigations to prevent further tragedies.
