The total value of mobile money transactions in Ghana stood at GH¢323.2 billion in June 2025, representing a 10.2 per cent decline from May’s figure of GH¢360 billion.
This is according to the Bank of Ghana’s July 2025 Summary of Economic and Financial Data.
Despite the monthly dip, year-on-year growth remains strong. In June 2024, mobile money transactions amounted to GH¢224 billion, indicating a rise of more than GH¢99 billion — approximately 44.3 per cent.
The data underscores the continued expansion of digital financial services across the country.
Transaction volumes also recorded a modest drop. A total of 735 million transactions were logged in June, down from 796 million in May — a 7.7 per cent decrease. Nevertheless, the figure is considerably higher than the 644 million transactions recorded in June 2024, marking a 14.1 per cent year-on-year increase.
The report further revealed that registered mobile money accounts had reached 76.4 million, with 24.5 million deemed active users. The float balance — representing the total funds held in mobile wallets — also rose to GH¢28.9 billion.
While June saw a month-on-month decline in activity, the strong annual growth in both value and volume points to a sustained public reliance on mobile money platforms.
