Ghana has taken a big step to strengthen aviation security and streamline passenger processing with the introduction of a new real-time passenger data system at Kotoka International Airport.
The Advance Passenger Information (API) and Passenger Name Record (PNR) systems will allow security agencies to collect and process passenger information before arrival or departure, enabling them to identify potential threats early.

It is expected to enhance national security, speed up immigration and customs procedures, and improve the overall efficiency of air travel.
Speaking at the commissioning of the new system and the inauguration of a new Air Navigation Services building, President John Mahama directed the Ministers for Transport, Interior, and Foreign Affairs to work together to expand the API and PNR systems nationwide as part of efforts to fast-track e-visa implementation.
