Belgian third-tier club RAEC Mons has confirmed the appointment of former Black Stars assistant coach George Boateng as their new head coach.
The 49-year-old has signed a three-year deal, taking over from Emilio Ferrera. Boateng has been out of management since leaving Coventry City in November 2024 following the arrival of Frank Lampard.
A holder of the prestigious UEFA Pro License, Boateng brings vast experience to Mons. He previously served as Ghana’s assistant coach during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d'Ivoire
His spell with the Black Stars ended after the Ghana Football Association (GFA) dissolved the technical team following a disappointing AFCON campaign.
The former midfielder retired from professional football in 2013 after a distinguished career with Aston Villa, Middlesbrough, Hull City, Nottingham Forest, and Coventry City. He also managed Malaysian side Kelantan and Aston Villa’s U-23 team.
Boateng’s arrival marks a new chapter for RAEC Mons as they look to push for success under his leadership.
