The Ashanti Regional Security Liaison has destroyed a huge consignment of counterfeit diapers imported under the name of an established brand on the market.
It comes after the consignment was seized at a warehouse at Asafo in Kumasi following the intelligence of National Security.
According to the regional security liaison, the fake products, believed to be imported from Nigeria, were uncustomed.

The Ashanti Regional Deputy Security Coordinator, Alhaji Tapsoba Alhassan, stated that “We saw them offloading the diaper. We sent one of our men to buy one and noticed that it was fake.”
“We contacted them about bringing their documents. Upon investigation, it was fake and uncustomed.”
Though the National Security has commenced investigations into the matter, the owners of the consignment have refused to own up.

Further tests by the Food and Drugs Authority confirmed the diapers were fake and unsafe for public use.
Acting on the FDA’s advice, National Security on August 20, 2025, ensured the seized products were destroyed at a Medical Waste Treatment Plant for disposal.
The National Security has warned dealers in fake products to desist from such acts.
