Two men have been remanded into prison custody by the Tarkwa District Magistrate Court in connection with a brutal acid attack that occurred in Aboso, Tarkwa Municipality, in August 2024.
According to the Western Central Regional Police Command, preliminary investigations revealed that the first accused confronted the victim at Aboso Mandelinde Junction, pushing him from behind and sparking a confrontation.
He later returned with the second accused, identified as 19-year-old Victor Vorgah, who was allegedly carrying a polythene bag containing a bottle of a substance suspected to be acid. The substance was reportedly poured on the victim’s face, causing severe injuries.
A release dated August 21, signed by Assistant Superintendent of Police Beatrice Turkson, Head of the Public Affairs Unit for the Western Central Region, stated that both suspects were arrested on August 9, 2025, from separate hideouts and arraigned before the court on August 14.
They face charges of Abetment of Crime under Section 20(1) of the Criminal Offences Act 1960 (Act 29) and Causing Unlawful Harm under Section 69 of the same Act.
The court, presided over by His Honour Mr. Charles Owusu, ordered the accused to be remanded into prison custody pending their next appearance.
Meanwhile, police are intensifying efforts to apprehend a third suspect, known only as “Black”, who remains at large.
Authorities are urging anyone with credible information on his whereabouts to contact the Aboso Police or the nearest police station.
The police have assured the public that they remain committed to bringing all perpetrators to justice.
