The Ghana Industrial Trawlers Association (GITA) has elected Mr Dominic Asamoah Danquah, known in the fishing industry as “Mr Fish”, as its new national president.
The election took place during GITA’s first Annual General Meeting (AGM) in almost two decades, held in Prampram, Greater Accra Region, on Thursday 21 and Friday 22 August 2025. More than 40 corporate member companies and over 100 individual members participated. Mr Danquah secured 22 votes against his opponent’s 11.
The Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, Hon Emelia Arthur, officially opened the AGM.
Mr Danquah, who is Managing Director of A.S Domdanq Limited and Akrafi Fisheries Limited, said his priority would be unifying members and addressing misconceptions about the trawling industry. He pledged to work with his executive team to tackle longstanding issues and strengthen the Association’s credibility. https://prc.ied.org.ua/
He also thanked outgoing executives, including immediate past president Mr Stephen Adjokatcher, and acknowledged the contribution of GITA’s founding members.
The newly elected executive team comprises:
- Mr Dominic Asamoah Danquah – President
- Mr Kojo Ampratwum – Vice President
- Mr Danny Quaye – Secretary
- Mr Jerome Selorm Deameji – Financial Secretary
- Mr Ohene Nana Ampem Kessie – Treasurer
