Italian Serie A side Fiorentina have confirmed that Ghana international Tariq Lamptey has arrived in Florence for his medical examinations ahead of a permanent move from Brighton & Hove Albion.
The club took to X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, August 31, 2025, posting photos of the 24-year-old defender in Fiorentina training gear with the caption: “Medical tests for Tariq Lamptey."

Fiorentina are reported to have agreed a €6 million deal plus performance-related bonuses with Brighton, with Lamptey expected to sign a four-year contract once the medical is completed.
The Ghanaian right-back will provide cover and competition for Brazilian wing-back Dodô, but his ability to operate on either flank offers Fiorentina tactical flexibility.
Lamptey joined Brighton in 2020 from Chelsea and made over 100 appearances, earning praise for his pace and attacking flair.
However, his progress has been hampered by injuries, limiting him to just 15 Premier League appearances last season, though he still managed two goals and several assists.
His limited involvement at the start of the current campaign pointed to a likely departure, paving the way for this move to Italy and a fresh challenge in Serie A.
On the international front, Lamptey has been named in Ghana’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad on September 4 and Mali on September 8. The Black Stars currently top Group I and will be counting on his experience as they push toward qualification for the tournament in the USA, Mexico, and Canada.
