Convenor of the One Ghana Movement, Senyo Hosi, has called on the Chief Justice to take an interest in the arrest of the Bono Regional Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye.
"I think the Chief Justice should take a particular interest in this matter and review this action," he said.
Abronye is facing one count of publication of false news and one count of offensive conduct conducive to the breach of peace. He has been accused of stating on a television platform that all strategic meetings conducted by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at Akwatia had the Inspector General of Police (IGP in attendance.
Again, he is alleged to have called the current IGP, Tetteh Yohuno, as the “most corrupt” IGP in the Ghana’s history.
Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile on Saturday, Mr Hosi said that while any proven misconduct by Abronye should attract the appropriate sanctions, a purely technical irregularity must be addressed through a review.
"If there is a misconduct on his (Abronye) part, actions should be taken, if there is a technical inappropriateness in it, it must be revised," he urged.
He is to reappear in court on Friday, September 19, 2025.
