A minor commotion was recorded on the Ablekuma-Curve when a vehicle suddenly burst into flames in the middle of the road.
Eyewitnesses say the incident occurred when the vehicle, believed to be a private saloon car, began emitting smoke from its engine compartment.
Within minutes, flames engulfed the entire vehicle, forcing the driver and passengers to flee for their lives.
Officers from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) rushed to the scene to battle the blaze.
Firefighters deployed hoses and managed to contain the fire after several minutes, preventing it from spreading to nearby properties.
According to the GNFS, no casualties have been recorded, but the vehicle was completely destroyed.
The incident created heavy traffic congestion on the Ablekuma stretch as motorists were forced to divert, while residents and onlookers gathered to watch the dramatic scene.
The Fire Service has since used the incident to caution drivers to regularly service their vehicles and ensure that all safety checks are carried out to prevent such occurrences.
The burnt car has since been towed away, restoring normal traffic flow in the area.
