The Ahafo Regional Minister, Charity Gardiner, has urged female traders in the area to position their businesses well to benefit from the implementation of the government’s economic intervention programmes.
She said the government would soon establish a Women’s Development Bank and urged traders to plan their businesses effectively to take advantage of the Bank’s interventions and other available opportunities.
Interacting with some market women and traders at the Kenyasi market in the Asutifi North District of the region, Ms. Gardiner urged them to leverage the Micro Finance and Small Loans Center (MASLOC) facility to expand their economic activities.
She, however, entreated them to do more to repay their loans for more women to benefit, explaining that she was in the district to familiarise herself, identify, and help address emerging socio-economic challenges facing the people.
Ms. Gardiner said women in general would not be left out in the implementation of the government’s “Adwummura” and “Akoko Nketinketi” porgrammes that sought to create more job opportunities and to enhance the socio-economic livelihood of the people.
Mr. Hafiz Dauda Debeil, the Asutifi North District Chief Executive, said plans were advanced for the construction of a 24-hour market that would open the area and spur rapid socio-economic growth and development.
He said on completion, the market would also create additional job opportunities and urged the people to always cooperate and support the assembly in facilitating the development of the district.
Member of Parliament for the Asutifi North constituency, Dr. Ebenezer Kwaku Addo, pledged to do more within his capacity to tackle the development needs of the local communities in the constituency.
