The Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, has called on Ghana’s teachers and youth to uphold discipline, integrity, and hard work as the foundation of national progress.
Speaking at the 2025 Ghana Teacher Prize ceremony in Accra, held under the theme “Elevating the Status of Teachers for Quality Education,” the Minister said the future of Ghana lies in the moral strength and professional commitment of its people.
“This issue is very important. Teachers and parents are watching your behaviour and character. The future is yours, the future of Ghana is yours. But be disciplined, work hard, and uphold integrity, and the future will remain yours,” he said.

Haruna Iddrisu praised the nation’s over 349,000 teachers for their dedication to shaping the next generation despite the challenges they face.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving teacher welfare through the Teachers’ Diplomatic Initiative, which will provide modern three-bedroom housing for teachers across the regions.
He also announced that under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, plans are underway to establish a new campus of a public university in Keta, to be known as the School of Public Affairs, aimed at building capacity in leadership, governance, and policy.
“We remain committed to making education the cornerstone of Ghana’s transformation. When we invest in teachers, we invest in the nation’s future,” he said.
The Education Minister concluded his address by inviting Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang to deliver her keynote remarks, describing her as “a symbol of knowledge, humility, and leadership.”
