Head coach of the Black Stars, Otto Addo, has etched his name into Ghana’s football history after guiding the national team to a second consecutive FIFA World Cup qualification.
Ghana sealed their place at the 2026 World Cup with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Comoros in their final Group I qualifier at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, October 12.
The feat makes Otto Addo the first coach to lead Ghana to back-to-back World Cup qualifications, having also masterminded the team’s return to the global stage at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar after missing out on the 2018 edition in Russia.
Ghana’s qualification marks the country’s fifth appearance at football’s biggest tournament.
Among African nations, only Cameroon (8), Morocco (7), Tunisia (7), and Nigeria (6) have made more appearances on the world stage.
With Otto Addo at the helm, Ghana will now turn its attention to preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
