At least four people have been killed, and several others are in critical condition after unknown gunmen opened fire on civilians at the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) office in Garu, in the Upper East Region.
According to reports, four armed men on two motorcycles this morning attacked bystanders at the NHIA premises and, while fleeing the scene, fired sporadically at anyone they encountered along the way.
This was confirmed by Garu District Chief Executive, John Abaare.
The motive behind the attack is not yet known, as police investigations are underway.
