The second contest of the day at the Centre for National Culture auditorium in Cape Coast saw Fafraha Community Senior High School, Kumasi Wesley Girls High School, and Tamale Islamic Science SHS battle it out for supremacy in the ongoing National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) preliminaries.
Tamale Islamic Science SHS started strong, taking an early lead in the first round with 17 points.
Fafraha Community SHS and Kumasi Wesley Girls followed closely behind with 12 and 8 points, respectively.
But the tables quickly turned in round two when Fafraha surged ahead with 21 points, leaving Tamale trailing with 13 and Kumasi dropping to just 4 points.

In the problem-solving round, both Fafraha and Kumasi managed to pick up 3 points each, while Tamale struggled to regain momentum.
By the fourth round, Fafraha had cemented their dominance with 34 points, followed by Tamale with 22 and Kumasi with 9.
At the end of the contest, Fafraha Community SHS emerged victorious with 37 points. Tamale Islamic Science SHS secured 27, and Kumasi Wesley Girls finished with 12 points.
Despite their win, Fafraha’s contestants expressed disappointment for not meeting their set target, vowing to return stronger and better prepared for the one-eighth stage.
