Black Stars midfielder Kwasi Sibo is confident about the team’s chances of achieving “big” things at the 2026 World Cup.
The team sealed qualification for the global showpiece for the fifth time after topping Group I with 25 points.
Ghana’s best performance at the tournament came in 2010, when they reached the quarter-finals, only to be eliminated painfully by Uruguay on penalties.
The Black Stars, however, have failed to progress beyond the group stages in their last two appearances.
Sibo believes the story will be different this time.
“This team can really achieve big in the World Cup,” Sibo told JoySports.
“The [players] I’ve trained with are doing well at their various clubs in Europe.
“This team is more united and when a team is united, it’s really hard to beat. We’re all together, making jokes, and that makes a team really strong.”
Sibo, who earned a late call-up following Elisha Owusu’s suspension and Ibrahim Sulemana’s injury during September’s international break, has since cemented his place in the squad.
The 27-year-old partnered Thomas Partey in midfield as Ghana recorded back-to-back wins over the Central African Republic and Comoros in the final round of qualifiers.
The Real Oviedo midfielder hopes to be part of the squad for November’s Asian tour against Japan and South Korea as part of preparations for next year’s World Cup.
