Berekum Chelsea’s rising star Kwesi Sorotu is fast emerging as one of the standout performers in the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.
At just 17, the midfielder has become the heartbeat of the club’s midfield, combining power, poise, and precision beyond his years.
Despite Chelsea’s difficult start, Sorotu’s maturity and consistency have shone through. Last season, he started 28 of 34 league games, displaying tireless energy, defensive intelligence, and sharp technical ability — traits that have drawn early comparisons to Ghana legend Michael Essien.
This campaign, Sorotu has stepped up another level. In six appearances, he has already won two Man of the Match awards. His first came in the 2-0 win over Basake Holy Stars, where his drive and creativity inspired Chelsea’s first victory of the season.
He followed with a commanding performance against Hearts of Oak, holding his own against experienced opponents despite a 2-0 defeat.
The teenager has clocked 540 minutes so far, scoring once — a crucial equaliser that salvaged a 1-1 draw against Karela United.
His blend of stamina, vision, and composure has made him one of the league’s most exciting young prospects.
With growing interest from clubs across the globe, Sorotu remains grounded and committed to Chelsea’s campaign. Determined to refine his craft, he has pledged to stay another season to help the Berekum side rise up the table.
In a league constantly searching for its next midfield star, Berekum Chelsea may have already found theirs — and his name is Kwesi Sorotu.
