The 2024 vice-presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has expressed deep sorrow following the passing of Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, the former First Lady of the Republic of Ghana.
In a message shared on X, formerly Twitter, Dr. Prempeh reflected on what he described as a difficult year for the nation, marked by the loss of several distinguished Ghanaians.
“This year has been a heavy one for our nation, with the loss of many great men and women,” Dr Prempeh wrote. “The passing of Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings is yet another poignant reminder of how fragile life is. My sincere condolences to her family and loved ones during this difficult time. May her soul rest in perfect peace.”

Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, wife of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings, was a prominent political figure and a trailblazer for women’s rights in Ghana.
As the founder of the 31st December Women’s Movement and later leader of the National Democratic Party (NDP), she played a significant role in advancing women’s participation in governance and social development.
