Black Queens coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren believes Ghanaian players have the quality to thrive at top clubs and play a key role in the national team’s continued success.
Bjorkegren, who has guided the team to a second consecutive Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after a bronze in the previous edition, praised the talent and progress of his squad following their 7-0 aggregate win over Egypt.
“The quality in the team is really, really good. I think there is another level in the team,” he told Joy Sports.
“If you look at the players, there are many who are ready to take the next step. Many of them, even those already playing abroad, can play strongly in better teams.”
The Swedish coach highlighted the development of young players Comfort Yeboah and Nancy Amoh, who recently joined Spanish club DUX Logroño, as examples of the team’s growing potential.
“I’m happy when I see young players like Comfort and Nancy going to Spain. That’s a perfect step for them,” Bjorkegren said. “What they’re doing day by day with their club teams will help us in the national team.”
Ghana will feature at next year’s WAFCON in Morocco, which will also serve as qualifiers for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
