GFA Communications Director Henry Asante Twum believes Black Stars coach Otto Addo will avoid wholesale squad changes for next week’s friendlies against Japan and South Korea.
Top-performing uncapped players and several dual nationals are among the names being mentioned for a potential debut call-up to the Black Stars, but Twum said Addo lacks the luxury of time for major adjustments.
“As we speak, I haven’t seen who is in the team and who is not in the team, but I think that, as much as possible, the coach would like to continue his rebuilding exercise by keeping the core of the team. It helps in team bonding, team building, and consistency,” Twum told Joy Sports.
“From now to June, it's quite a long time in football, but unfortunately, we do not have too many games, you know, to test ourselves. Because after this window, the only official or formal international window will be next year in March. That's quite a long time.
“Then after that, we may not play again until the two weeks leading to the tournament. So, as much as possible, you would like to keep the core of the team together.”
The Black Stars will take on Japan on Friday, November, 14 before facing South Korea four days later.
