The National Tripartite Committee (NTC) has announced a nine percent increase in the 2026 National Daily Minimum Wage (NDMW), raising it to GH¢21.77.
The decision was reached at a meeting held in Accra on Sunday, November 9, 2025, in line with Section 113(1)(a) of the Labour Act, 2003 (Act 651).
According to a communique issued by NTC, the review took into account the current economic environment, cost of living, business sustainability, and the need to promote higher levels of employment.
The new rate takes effect from January 1, 2026, and all establishments, institutions, and organisations whose daily minimum wage falls below this amount are required to adjust accordingly.
The NTC cautioned that any employer who fails to comply with the new rate will be sanctioned in accordance with the law.
The Committee also recommended that the 2026 National Daily Minimum Wage be tax-exempt, to ensure that workers benefit fully from the increment.
