A solemn state funeral was held on Friday, November 28, 2025, at the Independence Square in Accra to bid farewell to the late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings.
The ceremony brought together key national leaders, dignitaries, members of the clergy, and hundreds of mourners who gathered in honour of the pioneering stateswoman.

President John Mahama, who earlier announced the government’s decision to accord her a state funeral, was in attendance with his wife, Lordina Mahama, the Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, alongside senior government officials, and former appointees.
Also present were former President Nana Akufo-Addo and his wife, former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and his wife, and former President John Agyekum Kufuor, who joined the congregation to pay their final respects.

Members of the Rawlings family were seen seated at the front, including the children of the late former First Lady.
Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, wife of former President Jerry John Rawlings and a long-standing advocate for women’s empowerment and social justice, passed away on October 23, 2025.

Her death prompted three days of national mourning, during which flags were flown at half-mast across the country.
Today’s funeral marks the culmination of weeks of tributes nationwide, reflecting her decades-long influence in Ghanaian politics, her work through the 31st December Women’s Movement, and her legacy as one of the country’s most consequential first ladies.
