A fierce fire swept through a commercial shop on Kukurantumi-Banana Street on December 3, 2025, destroying merchandise and property before firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) reported receiving a distress call at 10:59 p.m., prompting an emergency response team led by ADO I Somuah to rush to the scene. Upon arrival, the shop was engulfed in flames, sending thick smoke into the surrounding area.
Firefighters worked under challenging conditions to suppress the fire and prevent it from spreading to neighboring buildings. Within an hour, the blaze was fully contained and extinguished.
The fire caused extensive damage to items inside the shop, including electronics, furniture, and other commercial goods. Authorities credited the rapid response of the GNFS with preventing a larger disaster in the busy commercial area.
No casualties were reported, and investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the fire.
