There was chaos at the Akyem-Kukurantumi police station in the Eastern region after some residents attacked and ransacked the station following the death of a suspect.
The irate youth accused a police officer of allegedly beating the suspect after he arrested him in a swoop and found substances suspected to be Indian hemp on him.
Angered by the action of the police officer whose name was only given as Kumador, the youth besieged the station in their numbers and demanded answers for the death of the suspect.
However, reports say officers on duty fled the station during the attack.
At the time of filing this report, police and the National Security Reinforcement team had been dispatched from Koforidua to restore calm.
