President John Dramani Mahama has announced that the long-awaited final report of the Constitutional Review Committee will be submitted to him on December 22.
The Committee, led by Prof H. Kwesi Prempeh, has spent months collating nationwide opinions on proposed amendments to various aspects of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution.
President Mahama noted that the team had earlier briefed him, offering an outline of its preliminary conclusions during a meeting held three weeks ago.
“They met me three weeks ago and made a presentation of some of the findings they were going to make. They are quite interesting. They intend to present the final results on December 22. Once the final report is presented, we will make it known to the rest of the nation,” he stated during discussions with the National Peace Council at the Jubilee House on Wednesday, 10 December.
The President also weighed in on an emerging national debate concerning the rights of Muslim students within mission schools.
He stressed the importance of upholding respect for diversity in all educational institutions, noting that provisions for accommodating different religious practices already exist in agreements governing faith-based schools.
President Mahama reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring that all students—regardless of religious background—are treated with fairness and dignity under the country’s educational and constitutional frameworks.
