Founder and leader of Glorious Word Power Ministries, Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah, has criticised former Lawra MP and Senior Advisor to the Bawumia Campaign, Anthony Abayifaa Karbo, over his comments on the role of prophecies in elections.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosiisen programme, Rev. Owusu Bempah expressed dissatisfaction with Mr Karbo’s assertion that election outcomes are shaped by opinion polls rather than prophecies, as well as his claim that politicians often provide poll data to prophets. He described the remarks as a sweeping attack on the prophetic ministry.

The cleric said he was surprised by Mr Karbo’s comments, recalling that the former MP had previously visited his residence in the company of Sammi Awuku, during which he prophesied Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s victory in the 2016 presidential election. According to him, those present at the time welcomed the prophecy and expressed satisfaction with it, making the recent remarks appear inconsistent.

Rev. Owusu Bempah argued that although Mr Karbo did not mention any specific individual, his comments appeared to cast aspersions on prophets generally, including himself. He maintained that he has made several political prophecies in the past which, in his view, have all come to pass, and challenged Mr Karbo to name any prophet he believes receives information from politicians to make prophetic declarations.

He further insisted that the prophetic ministry remains genuine and relevant, stressing that it should not be trivialised or dismissed. In protest against what he described as persistent disrespect towards prophets, Rev. Owusu Bempah said he would no longer pray for Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and some members of the New Patriotic Party, unless he is divinely directed to do so.

The cleric added that although he believes he has insight into future electoral outcomes, he would only reveal the winner of the 2028 general elections when he feels led by God. He reiterated that Mr Karbo’s comments came across to him as a broad condemnation of the prophetic ministry, which he said he found deeply troubling.
