The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has apprehended a suspect in connection with a robbery that led to the death of a miner at Asonkore SSNIT Flats Down in Obuasi, Ashanti Region.
The suspect, Rahman Adams, also known as Wale, was arrested on 18th January 2026 at Pomposo in an intelligence-led operation.
The arrest comes after a residential robbery on 12th December 2025, during which armed assailants attacked a home and killed a 42-year-old miner.
Investigations revealed that the attackers gained entry by cutting through a burglar-proof window, stole cash amounting to GH¢2,600, a laptop, and a vehicle ignition key, and assaulted the deceased during the attack.
Two other suspects, including one identified as A.T. and a Nigerian national, remain at large and are believed to have played key roles in the robbery and murder.
Items recovered from the scene included hammers, machetes, and cutters. The victim’s body was taken to the Obuasi Government Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
The arrested suspect is assisting police with investigations, while efforts continue to track down and apprehend the remaining accomplices to ensure they face justice.
