Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh has emphatically declared Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the former Vice President of Ghana, as the New Patriotic Party’s strongest and most electable leader ahead of the 2028 general election.
Speaking during Dr Bawumia’s re-election campaign activities in the Ashanti Region, Annoh-Dompreh dismissed suggestions that the internal contest was about individual or regional interests.
“Adutwum is from the Ashanti Region. Let’s tell Adu Twum that this fight is not his fight. This is not Kwabena Agyapong’s fight; this fight is for Bawumia,” he stated.
The Nsawam-Adoagyiri MP urged party members to focus on unity and electoral viability, arguing that Dr Bawumia represents the clearest path back to power for the NPP.
“Let it be put on record, without ambiguity or apology, that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is the strongest, most credible, and most electable leader to lead the NPP to victory and secure the future of this party,” Annoh-Dompreh declared.
Dr Bawumia, who led the NPP as its 2024 Presidential Candidate, is seeking to retain the party’s leadership as it reorganises and positions itself for the next general election.
The party will elect its flagbearer on January 31, 2026.
