The Legal Affairs Directorate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has congratulated Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, on his election as the party’s flagbearer and presidential candidate for the 2028 general elections.
In a statement signed by the Director of Legal Affairs, Gary Nimako Marfo Esq., the Directorate praised Dr. Bawumia for his “tireless efforts, vision, and dedication” to both the party and the nation, describing his victory as a significant milestone for the NPP as it prepares for the next electoral contest.
The Directorate also commended the other presidential aspirants— Kennedy Agyapong, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong—for conceding defeat and contributing to a peaceful and transparent internal election process.
According to the statement, their conduct demonstrated a strong commitment to party unity and democratic values.
Additionally, the NPP Legal Affairs Directorate expressed appreciation to the Electoral Commission of Ghana and the Ghana Police Service for their professionalism and effective supervision of the election, which ensured a free, fair, and orderly process.
The statement further praised the NPP Presidential Elections Committee, chaired by Joe Osei-Owusu, for organising what it described as a "credible and transparent election that reflected the will of party delegates."
As the party looks ahead to the 2028 elections, the Legal Affairs Directorate called on all NPP members and well-meaning Ghanaians to rally behind Dr. Bawumia, stressing that unity would be critical to the party’s chances of returning to power.
“Unity is crucial going into the 2028 elections, and we urge all factions to put aside their differences and work towards our common goal,” the statement noted.
The Directorate expressed confidence that with collective effort and cohesion, the NPP would be well-positioned to secure victory in the 2028 presidential polls
