The Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has affirmed the caucus's commitment to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, following his decisive victory in the New Patriotic Party's presidential primaries.
The Effutu lawmaker, speaking after a courtesy visit to Dr Bawumia’s residence, emphasised that the party stands united behind its newly elected flagbearer.
“Our commitment as a caucus is to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of our party,” Mr Afenyo-Markin stated, noting that the visit was meant to congratulate Dr Bawumia and pledge full support ahead of the 2028 general elections.
He added that the unity of the party remains central to its strategy for national success.
During the visit, the caucus expressed appreciation for the peaceful conduct of the primaries and the maturity shown by all aspirants and delegates throughout the process. Mr Afenyo-Markin highlighted that maintaining cohesion within the party is critical for effective mobilisation and preparation for the forthcoming elections.
The Minority Leader further urged all party members, supporters, and stakeholders to rally behind Dr Bawumia, stressing that collective action and a unified approach will be key to securing victory in the 2028 polls.
He concluded by reiterating the caucus’s confidence in the flagbearer’s leadership and vision for Ghana.
