The Effutu Divisional Police Command has debunked media reports of death and many injuries after the clash between some youth groups in Sankro, a community in the Effutu Municipality, a week ago.
ACP Ibrahim Opoku, Effutu Municipal Commander, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview that no death was recorded during the clash.
According to him, two others who were critically injured were on admission at hospitals in Cape Coast and Accra, receiving treatment.
He said one Emmanuel Bonney, popularly known as Excoba, collapsed during the incident, and the community members reported him dead.
He stated that three persons, including Excoba, had since been arraigned before the Agona Swedru Circuit Court and were remanded until February 10, 2026.
He said one gun was retrieved in the community, which had currently become calm, and people were going about their normal duties in and around its surrounding villages.
“We still need your support by providing us with information on other persons whose faces appeared in videos circulating on social media.
He called on the media to always cross-check their facts with the police before releasing information to the public.
