The Government of Ghana has announced plans to revive the Produce Buying Company (PBC) to resume full operations, aiming to restore its status as the country’s leading licensed cocoa buying company.
Speaking at a press briefing, Finance Minister Dr. Ato Forson said, “The revival of PBC is central to our strategy of supporting cocoa farmers. We want to ensure that they have a reliable, transparent, and efficient avenue to sell their produce at fair prices.”
He added that the move is expected to improve operational efficiency, create jobs, and strengthen Ghana’s position in the global cocoa market.
“Our goal is to modernise PBC, enhance competitiveness, and ultimately ensure that the interests of our cocoa farmers are protected,” Dr. Forson noted.
The government plans to equip PBC with the necessary capital, infrastructure, and technology to handle cocoa purchases effectively, ensuring a more robust and dependable cocoa buying system.
