The Office of the President hosted a high-level technical review session on Monday, February 9, 2026 bringing together key stakeholders to deliberate on two critical documents: the Website Governance Guidelines for Public Sector Institutions and the Government Appointees' Social Media & Digital Presence Guidelines.

Representing the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), a student and youth centered bloc championing the affairs of over 13.5 million Ghanaian students, Titus Owusu Darko emphasised the need for sustainability in the frameworks, stressing that the final module should embed compliance into organisational culture, ensuring long-term adherence to laws and regulations.

"Sustainability is key," Darko said. "Constant monitoring, updates, training, and awareness, coupled with robust risk management and governance, are essential for effective implementation."

The session, attended by representatives from NITA, RTIC, SIGA, NDPC, Local Government, Data Protection Commission, and the Deputy Minister of Government Communications, among others, aimed to gather expert input on the guidelines.

Darko's submission highlighted the importance of citizen-user accountability and youth access considerations, underscoring the need for frameworks that prioritise transparency and inclusivity.

"The digital landscape is evolving rapidly, and our institutions must keep pace," Titus Owusu Darko noted. "These guidelines are crucial for promoting accountability, transparency, and good governance."

The Presidency's initiative aligns with national development goals, seeking to enhance digital governance and promote a culture of compliance within public sector institutions.

The finalised frameworks are expected to provide a roadmap for public sector institutions to effectively manage their digital presence and ensure responsible social media engagement.

As Ghana continues to advance its digital agenda, stakeholders are optimistic that these guidelines will contribute significantly to national development, fostering a culture of transparency, accountability, and good governance.
