Black Stars head coach Otto Addo delivered a lecture to students of the University of Ghana’s Department of Physical Education and Sports at the Rugby Stadium as part of a special colloquium themed “Individual Player Development.”
Speaking at the event, Otto Addo said it has always been an honour to give back to students and share his experiences.
“I am happy to connect with universities. When I was working in Dortmund, we had good collaboration with students,” he said.
His lecture focused on player development, particularly how young, talented players can be given the right guidance during the transitional phase of breaking into the first team.
“I decided to pick a topic for young players in this transitional era, when they are trying to make it into the first team,” he explained.
Otto Addo concluded by urging athletes to prioritise education alongside their sporting careers.

“Football has moved beyond just playing on the field. It’s also about learning beyond the field and using science-backed knowledge to understand why certain things happen,” he said.
The Head of Department at the University of Ghana’s Department of Physical Education, Annabella Osei Tutu, said the students were inspired by Addo’s presentation.
“The students are highly motivated and inspired by Otto Addo’s career trajectory,” she noted.
The colloquium is designed to help students recognise the great opportunities available to them in the sports industry.
