The Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, COP Lydia Yarkor Donkor, has visited the Swedru School of Business following a violent attack on a student during a zonal athletics competition in Agona Swedru.
The incident involved a student of Awutu Obrachire Senior High Technical School who was attacked during the sporting event.
In a statement after the visit, COP Donkor said the purpose was to engage school management, assess the situation and ensure firm action is taken.

“The purpose of the visit was to engage management, assess the circumstances, reinforce discipline, and ensure that immediate steps are taken to prevent any recurrence,” she said.
She said that the visit was aimed at restoring order and reinforcing accountability within the school environment.
“The essence of this visit was clear: to restore order, strengthen accountability, and reaffirm that violence within our educational institutions will not be tolerated,” she stated.

The CID, she said, is investigating the incident and identifying all those involved. “All persons found to have participated in this act are being identified and dealt with in accordance with the law,” she added.
COP Donkor emphasised the need to ensure student safety at all times.
“Our students must feel safe in school and at every sanctioned event. Discipline, responsibility, and respect for life must remain non-negotiable,” she said.
