Accra is set to host the maiden edition of Crowned & Nurtured (CAN) 2026 Hair & Beauty Edition.
The one-day cultural and beauty experience is celebrating natural hair, self-expression and empowerment on 21st March 2026 at La Palm Royal Beach Hotel.
Created by natural hair advocate Abena Boateng, the event will bring together women, families, creators, professionals and entrepreneurs in a vibrant space that highlights identity, culture and confidence through hair and beauty.
“Our goal with Crowned & Nurtured is to create a space where women feel confident embracing their natural hair, while learning how to care for and style it in healthy and sustainable ways,” says Abena Boateng, founder of the movement.
The Crowned & Nurtured journey began in 2014 when Abena started her own natural hair journey after cutting her hair.
What began as a personal experience shared online grew into a global community, leading to collaborations with brands like Cantu, Lustre’s Pink, My Loganics, Shea Moisture, and Taliah Waajid.
Abena has also participated in international natural hair events in the UK and US, including the World Natural Hair Show and Baltimore Natural Hair Expo.
CAN 2026 will feature natural hair and beauty masterclasses, a fashion runway showcase, vendor exhibitions, cultural displays, grooming sessions, a kids’ activation zone, gaming experiences and an art and cultural exhibition. The vendor village will showcase hair, beauty and lifestyle products.
The day will conclude with an after-party included in the main ticket, offering attendees a chance to celebrate, connect and network.
The festival also promotes self-love, confidence and financial literacy through merchandise and publications for young people, encouraging representation and self-acceptance.
